Join a leading construction company in Johannesburg as a Quantity Surveyor. We are seeking a motivated and experienced professional with strong commercial and financial management expertise, excellent cost control skills, and the ability to independently manage multiple commercial and industrial construction projects from inception through to final account.

  • Prepare cost plans, estimates, and feasibility reports during the planning and design stages of projects.
  • Compile and administer Bills of Quantities (BOQs), tender documentation, and contract-related documentation.
  • Monitor project budgets, expenditure, and implement effective cost control measures throughout the construction lifecycle.
  • Carry out accurate quantity take-offs and measurements for construction projects.
  • Assess and process contractor claims, variations, payment certificates, and final accounts.
  • Identify commercial risks and implement practical cost management strategies.
  • Assist with procurement activities and supplier negotiations.
  • Prepare detailed cost reports and financial information to support project funding requirements.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor project progress and attend project meetings.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and ensure contractual compliance throughout project execution.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, consultants, and project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Manage the commercial and financial aspects of multiple projects from pre-construction through to project completion.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within budget while maintaining quality and contractual obligations.

Education

  • BSc Degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • Relevant post-qualification experience within commercial and industrial construction.

Experience

  • Strong experience in cost estimation, cost planning, and feasibility reporting.
  • Proven experience preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs), tender documentation, and contract administration.
  • Sound knowledge of project budgeting, cost control, and commercial management.
  • Experience assessing contractor claims, variations, payment certificates, and final accounts.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent planning, organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience using Emwin (EJM) will be advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel inter-provincially for project and site requirements.
