Our client in the Automotive Manufacturing industry is seeking to employ a Buyer to join their team based in Kariega (Uitenhage).

POSITION INFO

Requirements: Degree or Diploma in Purchasing, Logistics, Commerce, Finance, Business Management, or a technical qualification (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Quality, Operations, or Production Management). Minimum of 3 years' purchasing experience within the automotive manufacturing or supplier industry. Strong experience with production components. Electrical harness experience and technical data knowledge will be advantageous. Sound negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict management skills. Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels. Advanced computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Excel. Good understanding of financial analysis, costing, and business/project management principles. Strong customer interaction and relationship management skills. German language proficiency will be advantageous. Self-motivated, driven, and able to work independently. Responsibilities: Source production components and manage RFQs, supplier quotations, and negotiations. Drive cost reduction initiatives and benchmark supplier pricing. Present sourcing recommendations and decisions to relevant committees. Manage supplier readiness, production capacity, and tooling requirements. Ensure engineering changes are implemented within agreed timelines. Support production, quality, and logistics teams in resolving supplier-related issues. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure continuity of supply. Contribute to localisation initiatives and continuous procurement improvements. Ensure procurement activities support business objectives, quality standards, and production requirements.
