We're Hiring: Actuarial Specialist (Short-term Pricing)

Location: Centurion, Gauteng

Salary: R800 000 - R900 000 CTC per annum

Are you passionate about pricing, predictive modelling, and solving complex business challenges through data? We're looking for an Actuarial Specialist to join a dynamic pricing team, where you'll contribute to the development and enhancement of actuarial pricing models while gaining exposure to reserving, systems transformation, and strategic business initiatives.

This opportunity is ideal for an actuary with a strong analytical mindset who enjoys working with Python, statistical modelling, and data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

As an Actuarial Analyst, you will:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance actuarial pricing models to support business objectives.
  • Perform pricing analysis using Python and statistical modelling techniques, including GLMs.
  • Build, refine, and automate actuarial models and analytical processes.
  • Analyse large datasets to identify trends, insights, and pricing opportunities.
  • Contribute to pricing model testing, validation, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Support the implementation and enhancement of pricing and reserving systems.
  • Assist with reserving modelling and related actuarial initiatives.
  • Work closely with senior actuaries and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into analytical solutions.
  • Deliver components of pricing workstreams while ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Identify opportunities to improve modelling techniques, automation, and reporting efficiency.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:

  • Nearly Qualified or Qualified Actuary, or making steady progress with actuarial exams.
  • 3+ years' actuarial experience, preferably within pricing.
  • Strong Python programming skills for modelling, automation, and data analysis.
  • Experience with statistical modelling techniques such as Generalised Linear Models (GLMs).
  • Solid understanding of pricing principles within insurance or financial services.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A passion for continuous learning and improving actuarial processes.
