The Opportunity
The Contracts and Tendering Manager will be responsible for leading contract management and tendering activities for products, systems, and services within a designated market. This role focuses on developing competitive bids, estimates, quotations, and contract solutions that align with customer requirements and business objectives. The successful candidate will build and maintain strong customer relationships, provide effective solutions to complex commercial and contractual challenges, and drive successful business outcomes. Working closely with internal stakeholders and customers, this position will play a key role in enhancing collaboration across Hitachi Energy units, ensuring market competitiveness, and supporting sustainable business growth within the assigned region.
How You Will Make an Impact
Supplier Selection : Identifies potential suppliers for equipment and materials required for projects and conducts technical evaluations of supplier proposals to ensure compliance with specifications. Collaborates with Supply Chain Management to coordinate requests with subcontractors.
Customer Relations : Establishes and maintains effective customer relationships to understand customer needs, promote awareness of the full product, system, and service portfolio, and align solutions accordingly. Ensures a positive customer experience throughout the sales and tendering process.
Coordination : Ensures all inputs required for bid, estimate, and quotation preparation are delivered on time and in accordance with established quality procedures. Coordinates external services that support bid preparation, including translations and government approvals.
Contracts and Sales : Creates value for both customers and Hitachi Energy by supporting successful transactions, contracts, and proposals through effective commercial practices. Communicates key details in line with Hitachi Energy offerings and strategy, including delivery schedules, payment terms, and general terms and conditions.
Documentation : Collects and archives documentation related to offers and orders, while recording assumptions and decisions made during the development process. Regularly reports bid, estimate, and quotation status using defined tools and analyzes factors contributing to successful and unsuccessful tenders.
Administration : Manages administrative procedures within contract and sales processes and supports collection and project management activities when required.
Offer Preparation : Prepares offers in collaboration with the Bid and Proposal team and/or Marketing Manager. Ensures all technical and commercial aspects of offers, including pricing and trading conditions, are accurate and appropriate.
Target Achievement : Develops competitive bids, estimates, and quotations by considering the optimal product mix and relevant technical and commercial requirements for each opportunity. Ensures tenders are thoroughly documented, completed on time, and supported by accurate cost information.
Bid Preparation : Coordinates the preparation of all technical aspects (such as selecting the most suitable technology and product type), financial components (including pricing sheets and cash flow analyses), and, where applicable, project management requirements (such as estimating engineering and commissioning hours). Defines pricing and commercial terms within proposals.
Risk Management : Identifies potential risks within bids, quotations, estimates, and related contract agreements across customers and sales channels. Provides relevant information and participates in the Risk Review process in accordance with Hitachi Energy policies.

Your Background
Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in transformer sales and/or contract management, with exposure to HV products and/or substations.
Strong knowledge of the Southern African transformer market.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in international and cross‑cultural environments.
Fluency in English in must.
