Job Purpose

  • The Culinary Division has a vacancy for a Manager: Technical – Long Life and Long Life International, who will be responsible for the overall management and co-ordination of the technical function within the Long-Life and Long-Life International categories, to ensure the various manufacturing operations, meet world class quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all raw materials, manufacturing, packaging, storage and distribution processes and practices comply with the relevant quality standards and customer quality requirements.
  • Provide expert technical support and guidance to technical and operations staff and management at the various manufacturing operations.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of an effective and comprehensive quality management system to ensure the organisation and factory quality systems and practices comply with international best practices.
  • Ensure compliance to local and external food processing and labelling regulations and legislative requirements.
  • Liaise with external assessment bodies to ensure quality accreditation and implementation of quality best practices.
  • Train and develop quality professionals in all operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaboratively work with all departments and internal stakeholders, to improve quality within the organisation.
  • Ensure the promotion of awareness of quality throughout the organisation.
  • To represent Premier FMCG in relevant industry forums.
  • To keep up to date with new technologies relevant to the organisation’s products and processes.
  • Management of staff directly and indirectly reporting to the position.

Qualification Requirements

  • A relevant technical degree, food science, micro biology, chemistry
  • A management related qualification will be an added advantage.

Experience Requirements

  • 5 – 8 years’ experience within a technical department or function, at a senior level.
  • The ability to travel to all Long-Life and Long-Life International Plants at least twice every year and as necessary.

Key Outputs

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of current food safety standards and requirements, including external quality and ethical trading certification requirements.
  • Knowledge of appropriate legislation of countries to which we export our products to.
  • Have a specialist knowledge and understanding of NRCS requirements.
