Objective

To efficiently and timeously prepare and serve high-quality food in a non-wasteful manner, maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and all food-related areas, and ensure courteous and efficient kitchen service.

Main Accountabilities

Quality and Preparation

  • Prepare and cook all food items for à la carte and conference services.
  • Plate, garnish, and present all food items to a high standard.
  • Ensure proper storage of all food items.

Hygiene and Cleanliness

  • Keep kitchen floors and all food-related areas clean.
  • Maintain cleanliness of walls, windows, and canopies in food preparation areas.
  • Keep all refrigerators and deep freezers clean and tidy.
  • Ensure the back-of-house kitchen area is clean, tidy, and free of boxes and dustbins.
  • Keep dustbins clean and covered.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all food-related equipment, crockery, cutlery, and utensils.
  • Clean cutting boards and work surfaces.
  • Keep knives clean and sharp.

  • Maintain a high standard of personal cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Ensure the required level of discipline is maintained.
  • Handle guest queries and complaints efficiently, promptly, and courteously.

Essential

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum Certificate in Culinary Arts or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ proven experience successfully managing a pastry section.
  • Previous experience in the hospitality industry with knowledge of Food and Beverage operations.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Experience in menu planning and costing.
