Mechanical Draughtsperson - Boksburg, Johannesburg - Salary: R25,000 - R32,000 CTC per month - (12-Week Contract) About the Role In this role, you will produce accurate, detailed technical drawings and related deliverables to support the design, development, and manufacture of product components, assemblies, tooling, and equipment. You will play a crucial part in maintaining ongoing product manufacturing data management and ensuring all deliverables meet industry and company standards. Key Responsibilities Data Pack Generation: Produce detailed, accurate, product-specific Manufacturing Data Packs (including CAD model data, technical drawings, and accompanying 2D/3D deliverables). Data & Revision Management: Maintain ongoing product data management, file management, and disciplined product-specific revision control according to company standards. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with production, Quality Control (QC), and technical personnel to ensure data aligns with updated production specifications. Concept Translation: Effectively translate conceptual drawings or verbal briefing instructions into highly detailed technical drawings. Physical Measurement: Use industry-standard measurement apparatus to accurately measure physical products or tool components and recreate technical drawings. Bills of Materials (BOM): Generate product Bills of Materials (BsOM) according to manufacturing specifications for costing or production purposes. External Liaison: Engage with procurement personnel and external suppliers regarding outsourced manufacturing work for research and development projects. What We Are Looking For (Requirements) Qualifications & Experience: Education: National Diploma (NDip) or equivalent certification in Mechanical Draughting, Multi-disciplinary Draughting, or a related field. Experience: 2+ years of draughting experience specifically within the manufacturing industry . Technical Skills & Competencies: Proficiency in CAD software ( SolidEdge is highly preferred ). Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel). Acute understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) . Awareness of ISO standards for mechanical drawings/draughting and quality standards in manufacturing. Understanding of change management and revision control disciplines. Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes: Press/draw-forming, Injection-moulding, CNC machining, and Metal fabrication . Basic understanding of steel and plastic engineering materials, alongside mechanical principles. Strong technical communication, organization, and time management skills to meet project deadlines. Advantageous Skills (A Plus!) Experience with CAM software. Knowledge of CNC-machining equipment, programming, and capabilities. Exposure to press-tooling design.
