Our client is seeking a customer-focused and technically minded Internal Sales Consultant to support the growth of their chemical, laboratory consumables, scientific equipment, and instrumentation business, Randburg

POSITION INFO

The successful candidate will be responsible for handling customer enquiries, preparing quotations, processing orders, building client relationships, and supporting sales activities within the scientific, laboratory, research, industrial, educational, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, environmental, and mining sectors. Key Responsibilities Respond to customer enquiries via telephone, email, and online channels. Prepare and follow up on quotations for laboratory chemicals, consumables, glassware, instruments, and scientific equipment. Process sales orders accurately and efficiently. Provide product recommendations and technical information to customers. Maintain and develop relationships with existing customers. Actively identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities. Follow up on outstanding quotations and sales opportunities. Liaise with suppliers and internal departments regarding stock availability, delivery times, and customer requirements. Maintain accurate customer records and sales activities on the CRM system. Assist in achieving monthly sales targets and departmental objectives. Support tender and project-related sales activities where required. Ensure exceptional customer service and after-sales support. Minimum Requirements Qualifications Diploma or Degree in: Chemistry Biotechnology Microbiology Analytical Chemistry Laboratory Science Sales & Marketing Or a related scientific field Experience 2-5 years' internal sales experience within one or more of the following sectors: Laboratory equipment Scientific instrumentation Laboratory consumables Chemicals Medical diagnostics Industrial testing equipment Technical product sales Knowledge & Skills Sound understanding of laboratory and scientific products. Ability to interpret customer technical requirements. Strong quotation and order processing experience. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, CRM, ERP systems). Strong organisational and administration skills. Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure. Preferred Requirements Previous experience selling laboratory chemicals, consumables, glassware, instrumentation, or scientific equipment. Existing relationships within research laboratories, universities, testing laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, food and beverage manufacturers, or mining laboratories.
