We are currently seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – Theatre Qualified for a private hospital opportunity in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. *Provide safe, effective and specialised nursing care to patients throughout the perioperative process.

*Prepare patients for surgical procedures, ensuring all pre-operative assessments and necessary documentation are completed.

*Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the operating theatre, ensuring that all equipment and supplies are available and functional.

*Function effectively as a Scrub Nurse, Circulating Nurse and/or Anaesthetic Nurse, depending on the needs of the theatre.

*Assist with the preparation and handling of surgical instruments, equipment and sterile supplies.

*Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection prevention and control protocols.

*Assist surgeons and the multidisciplinary surgical team during procedures by anticipating their needs and ensuring efficient theatre workflow.

*Perform accurate surgical counts, including instruments, swabs, needles and other consumables, in accordance with hospital policies.

*Monitor patients throughout the perioperative period and identify and respond promptly to any changes in their condition.

*Ensure the safe transfer and handover of patients to the relevant departments following surgery.

*Administer medication and treatments according to prescribed orders and hospital protocols.

*Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of patient care and theatre activities.

*Maintain compliance with hospital policies, quality standards, occupational health and safety regulations, and SANC requirements.

*Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives and infection prevention programmes.

*Assist with the supervision, guidance and mentoring of junior nursing staff and students where required.

*Post Basic Qualification in Operating Theatre (essential)

*Degree/Diploma in General Nursing

*Minimum 8 years of experience within a Theatre hospital environment

*SANC Registered
