E Commerce Trading and Merchandising Specialist - Luxury Brands Sandton Head Office

SPC Management Service Solutions

Market leader in Luxury fashion is seeking to employ an e commerce trade and merchandising specialist to join their evert growing team

Job Purpose

The Trading & Merchandising Specialist owns the Label’s online storefronts end-to-end — from launch readiness and go-live through daily trading and profitable growth. Reporting to the E-Commerce Manager, the role combines hands-on site merchandising on the Fynd platform with data-driven trading: driving conversion, sell-through and stock cover, and partnering with the Business Managers, Digital Marketing Specialist, E-Commerce Stock Manager and customer service team to deliver a premium online experience for both brands. Prior e-commerce trading experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities

1. Site Ownership — Own both storefronts end-to-end; drive launch readiness for Brand (catalogue build, content, testing, go-live) and lead post-launch stabilisation, then run the ongoing trading and promotional calendar for both sites.

2. On-Site Merchandising & Catalogue — Load and enrich products on Fynd (imagery, copy, attributes, categorisation); curate homepage, category and landing pages; maintain search, filter and cross-sell quality; and ensure newness is live on time with complete, premium content.

3. Trading, Data & Analytics — Trade both sites daily and weekly using GA4 and Fynd analytics — traffic, conversion, AOV, checkout drop-off, sell-through and stock cover — translating insight into pricing, promotion, replenishment and markdown actions.

4. Commercial Performance & KPIs — Own sales and margin versus target for both storefronts; set, track and drive site KPIs through clear reporting and timely action, and represent both sites in the weekly trade meeting.

5. Stock, Range & Fulfilment Alignment — Partner with the Business Managers on range depth, stock requests and repeat buys, and with the E-Commerce Stock Manager on availability, IBTs, dispatch SLA and returns, keeping bestsellers in stock and stock cover in band.

6. Marketing & Customer Experience — Align with the Digital Marketing Specialist and our digital agency on campaigns and paid activity (avoiding cross-site cannibalisation) together with the CRM calendar; uphold an A-Class online experience and support customer service on product and order queries.

7. Governance & Reporting — Ensure compliance with brand-principal guidelines and Group policies and controls; reconcile platform sales to PeachERP and provide accurate site performance reporting to the E-Commerce Manager.

Key Performance Metrics
  • Sales & Revenue Growth: site sales and margin targets and sustainable growth across both storefronts.
  • Launch Delivery: both sites live on time with full, accurate catalogues and stable post-launch trading.
  • Conversion & Site Productivity: conversion rate, AOV, traffic quality and checkout completion.
  • Stock & Sell-Through: sell-through versus plan, stock cover in band and bestseller availability.
  • Catalogue Quality: completeness, newness live-on-time and upload turnaround.
  • Customer Experience: consistent premium, A-Class online experience and service standards.
  • Brand Standards & Compliance: brand-principal guidelines, visual standards and governance.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ e-commerce trading experience (essential) — proven track record trading online retail sites against commercial targets, ideally within a premium or luxury environment.
  • E-commerce merchandising expertise — hands-on product onboarding, enrichment and on-site merchandising on a modern platform (Fynd, Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Magento or similar), with strong bulk-upload and Excel skills.
  • Strong data and analytical capability (essential) — confident in GA4 and platform analytics; fluent in retail maths and able to turn data into trading actions.
  • Strong commercial acumen — the ability to interpret sales data, manage KPIs and translate insight into pricing, promotional and range decisions.
  • Product and range sense — able to work with buying teams on range depth, replenishment and markdown timing to maximise sell-through.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills — across Head Office, brand principals and providers (Fynd, TDMC, Netcore).
  • Highly organised and proactive — able to run two brands’ launch and trading calendars in parallel with strong attention to detail.
  • A premium, fashion-forward presentation eye — with copywriting ability, aligned with the standards of the Hugo Boss and Longchamp brands.
  • Flexibility during peak trade — and to provide support during launches, sale periods and key brand activities.
