Key Responsibilities
- Control entry and exit points, verifying identities and authorization of all persons and vehicles entering or leaving the premises.
- Maintain accurate logs of visitors, contractors, and vehicles.
- Issue visitor passes and ensure their proper use.
- Conduct regular patrols of the assigned area, both on foot and via vehicle (if applicable), to deter and detect unauthorized activities.
- Monitor CCTV systems and other security equipment for suspicious activities or breaches.
- Report and document any observed security risks, hazards, or irregularities.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents (e.g., theft, vandalism, medical emergencies, fire).
- Implement emergency procedures and assist in the evacuation of personnel when necessary.
- Apprehend and detain individuals as per legal guidelines and company policy, in coordination with law enforcement when required.
- Prepare detailed and accurate incident reports, daily activity reports, and other required documentation.
- Maintain meticulous records of all security-related activities, observations, and actions taken.
- Ensure all reports comply with G4S and PSIRA standards.
- Provide excellent customer service and act as a point of contact for
security-related inquiries.
- Assist clients, employees, and visitors with security concerns and provide directions or information as needed.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
- Adhere strictly to all PSIRA regulations, including the code of conduct, minimum standards for security officers, and licensing requirements.
- Comply with all G4S company policies, procedures, and standing operating instructions (SOIs).
- Participate in all mandatory training and refresher courses as required by G4S and PSIRA.
- Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of all assigned security equipment (e.g., radios, torches, access control systems).
- Report any malfunctions or damage to equipment promptly.
Qualifications and Requirements
- PSIRA Registration: Valid and current PSIRA Grade GradeC registration is mandatory.
- Experience: Previous experience in a security role, preferably within a corporate, industrial, or commercial environment, will be an advantage.
- Education: Grade 12 preferred. Aviation Security Training
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals.
- Observation Skills: Keen observational skills and attention to detail.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to assess situations quickly and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Availability: Must be willing to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, as per operational requirements.
- Clean Criminal Record: A clear criminal record is essential.
