Structural Engineer - Bridges

Our client is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer (Pr Eng.) with a strong background in bridge engineering to join their established team in Pretoria. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically driven professional to contribute to the design, assessment, rehabilitation, and delivery of major bridge infrastructure projects while mentoring junior engineers and supporting business growth.

Minimum Requirements

• BSc in Civil Engineering.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng.) with ECSA.
• Minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in bridge engineering.
• Proven experience in bridge design and bridge condition assessments.
• Strong project management and contract administration experience.
• Excellent technical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and analyse bridge and road structures.
• Review and verify structural designs and calculations.
• Conduct condition assessments of bridges and related infrastructure.
• Develop rehabilitation recommendations for existing structures.
• Prepare reports, technical presentations, specifications, bills of quantities, and contract documentation.
• Manage bridge engineering projects from planning through construction.
• Oversee project budgets, tender documentation, and contract administration.
• Supervise construction activities and provide technical support during implementation.
• Mentor and develop junior engineering staff.
• Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
• Support business development initiatives and proposal preparation.
• Drive innovation and digitalisation within the engineering team.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and engineering best practices.
