SUMMARY

We are seeking experienced Junior and Senior Fleet Controllers to join a fast-paced road freight and logistics operation.

POSITION INFO

Key Responsibilities Capture and update planned loads on the Fleet Management System (Soloplan). Allocate and coordinate loads to the assigned fleet. Ensure drivers receive loading instructions and are informed of any operational changes. Monitor truck movements and driver activity in real time. Ensure all scheduled collections and deliveries are completed on time. Keep clients and internal stakeholders informed of delivery progress and delays. Ensure PODs and supporting documentation are correctly scanned, submitted, and filed. Monitor diesel consumption and driver efficiency, escalating poor performance where required. Conduct driver debriefing sessions and assist with operational queries. Manage driver attendance, leave, and daily operational administration. Coordinate breakdowns with the Call Centre and follow up until resolved. Ensure compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and transport legislation. Additional Responsibilities (Senior Fleet Controller) Lead, mentor, and support a team of Junior Fleet Controllers. Assist with workload distribution and operational planning. Provide guidance on operational challenges and customer escalations. Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Fleet Control department. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 (Matric). Qualification in Transport or Logistics will be advantageous. Valid driver''s licence and own reliable transport. Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and general computer systems. Fluent in English and Afrikaans (spoken, written, and understood). Experience Junior Fleet Controller 2-4 years experience as a Fleet Controller within the road freight and logistics industry. Experience in route planning, truck monitoring, driver management, and client communication. Senior Fleet Controller Minimum of 4 years experience as a Fleet Controller within the road freight and logistics industry. Previous experience leading or mentoring Fleet Controllers will be advantageous. Strong experience in route planning, fleet operations, driver management, and client relationship management. Essential Experience Experience must have been gained within a Freight and Logistics company . Must have worked with tautliners and/or tipper trucks . Experience with buses, 3ton, 5ton, rental vehicles, or passenger transport will not be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with mining and tipper fleet experience . Working Hours This role operates in a demanding logistics environment and requires flexibility. Extended or irregular working hours, including standby and weekend duties where required, form part of the position.
