Reporting Assistant

Grade: D

Number of Positions: One (1)

Responsible To: Senior Reporter

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Senior Reporter, the Reporting Assistant is responsible for providing accurate first-draft transcripts of all proceedings of the National Assembly and its Committees.

Main Duties

  • Record speeches, statements, and debates from the Plenary and its Committees using audio recording equipment.
  • Transcribe speeches, statements, and debates of the National Assembly and its Committees in both Sesotho and English.
  • Ensure the safekeeping of equipment under his/her custody.
  • Type translated copies of the Hansard.

Attributes

  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Hard-working with a willingness to work considerable overtime for extended periods.
  • Understanding of parliamentary procedures.
  • Good keyboard and word processing skills.

Job Specifications

Applicants Must Possess

  • A Diploma in Secretarial Studies from a recognised institution.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in the use of recording equipment.
  • Typing speed of 40 words per minute (wpm).
  • Audio typing speed of 100 words per minute (wpm).
