Public Relations Officer

Grade: G

Number of Positions: One (1)

Responsible To: Deputy Clerk

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in Stakeholder/Public Education and Publicity About Government Activities, Objectives, and Services
  • Participate in the design of educational and publicity campaigns.
  • Participate in educational and publicity outreach campaigns, including roadshows, exhibitions, events, and public gatherings (Pitsos).
  • Write scripts and compile footage for media dissemination.
  • Draft Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials.
  • Participate in educational and publicity feedback surveys, including online interviews, group discussions, opinion polls, listenership/readership surveys, and viewership surveys.
  • Internal Communication
  • Lead the drafting of the internal newsletter/magazine.
  • Communicate messages through the intranet.
  • Display general messages on notice boards.
  • Monitor Media Content
  • Listen to, read, and view different media to determine what is being said about the National Assembly and its activities.
  • Conduct research on media reach and areas of focus or public interest.
  • Manage the Public Relations Section
  • Participate in the development of sectional work plans.
  • Participate in the sectional budgeting process.
  • Supervise and appraise subordinate staff.

Job Specifications

Applicants Must Possess Either

  • A Master’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, or Media Studies.

OR

  • An Honours or Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, or Media Studies, plus at least two (2) years’ working experience as an Assistant Public Relations Officer.
