Junior Scrum Master

Gulf Associates

We are looking for a Junior Scrum Master to help our advisory teams stay organized as we manage several complex workstreams for a key client engagement. Our global partner is expanding its South African footprint, and this growth requires a disciplined approach to how we coordinate our research and decision-support tasks. This is a fully remote role where you will work closely with both junior associates and senior partners to ensure that our internal processes support the commercial goals of the project. You will be responsible for keeping team activities visible and helping everyone maintain a steady pace of work without getting bogged down in administrative friction.

What you will do

  • Facilitate regular synchronization meetings to help the advisory team stay aligned on daily priorities and upcoming deadlines.
  • Assist in tracking the progress of research tasks related to the South African expansion, ensuring blockers are identified quickly.
  • Maintain our project boards and task lists to provide clear visibility into the current status of various commercial workstreams.
  • Support the team in breaking down complex advisory goals into manageable tasks that can be completed in short cycles.
  • Organize and document internal reviews where team members share their findings on counterparties and market dynamics.
  • Remove practical obstacles that prevent the team from focusing on high-level analysis and commercial judgment.
  • Collect basic data on team performance such as task completion rates to help senior partners plan future resource needs.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement by facilitating brief sessions to discuss how our remote collaboration can be more effective.

What you bring

  • A foundational understanding of Agile principles or Scrum frameworks, often gained through university projects or early-career training.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to keep multiple documentation threads updated and accurate.
  • Clear, direct communication style with an emphasis on listening and asking clarifying questions.
  • A commercial mindset that prioritizes real-world outcomes over the strict adherence to theoretical project management rules.
  • The self-discipline required to work effectively in a fully remote environment without frequent supervision.
  • University level education or equivalent background that demonstrates logical thinking and research discipline.
  • Comfort with using digital scheduling and task management tools to organize a distributed workforce.
  • A collaborative attitude and the willingness to take on administrative coordination to support the broader team goals.

What we offer

  • The opportunity to work on high-stakes advisory projects alongside senior partners and experienced decision-makers.
  • Experience in a growing firm that values commercial results and ground reality over standard consultancy templates.
  • Complete remote flexibility, allowing you to manage your work day in a way that suits your environment.
  • A competitive salary for the entry-level market, reflecting the importance we place on process coordination.

Working at Gulf Associates

Gulf Associates is not a typical advisory firm. We focus on the practical reality of how deals are made and how capital is deployed in complex environments. Our culture is professional and direct: we value honesty and evidence over polished presentations. We believe that small, senior-led teams produce better outcomes for clients because the people in the room actually understand the commercial judgment required to close a deal. In this role, you will be an essential part of the team, ensuring that our internal engine runs smoothly so that our partners can focus on delivering the precise, actionable advice our clients expect. We measure success by the quality of the decisions our clients make rather than the number of reports we produce.
