Ecommerce Engineer / Head of Ecommerce Technology

Our client within a leading retail and digital commerce environment is seeking a highly experienced Ecommerce Engineer to take ownership of their ecommerce technology function. This is a senior-level opportunity suited to a strategic thinker who can bridge technology and business, while driving ecommerce growth, platform stability, and innovation.

Requirements

BSc Degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (non-negotiable)

Extensive senior-level experience in ecommerce or digital commerce engineering

Strong understanding of ecommerce platforms (Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, or similar)

Solid frontend and backend development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, PHP, or Python)

Experience with REST APIs, system integrations, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)

Strong knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases and Git version control

Experience with website performance optimisation and technical SEO

Proven leadership capability in cross-functional environments

Strong commercial acumen and business understanding
