Facilities and Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor

This role will be responsible for all activities related to maintenance and changes to facilities and vehicles. The incumbent should have experience with diesel engines as well as others (FAW, HINO, etc.), as well as vehicle refrigeration units and building air conditioners. Responsible for the maintenance and uptime of all MHE (Forklifts, Turrets, etc.).

The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the workshop and facility teams. Responsible for the good condition of infrastructure and ensuring that facilities are safe, hygienic, pest-controlled, and well-functioning. Must be well-organized, efficiently managed, able to conduct large amounts of building repairs, internal erections, and conduct maintenance. It is the role of the incumbent to co-ordinate and oversee safe, secure, and environmentally sound operations.

• Plan and coordinate all installations and refurbishments.

• Ability to erect internal workspaces, including drywalling, workspaces and racking.

• Manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards.

• Inspect building structures and vehicles to determine the need for repairs or renovations.

• Obtain and evaluate quotes.

• Review utility consumption and strive to minimize costs.

• Manage and supervise all facilities and vehicle workshop staff (cleaners and security) and external contractors.

• Manage and control activities such as waste disposal and building security.

• Perform analysis and cost management.

• Manage back-up power, such as diesel for forklifts/generators, as well as ensure distilled water for batteries is kept safely.

• Ensure electrical repairs are done timeously.

• Manage warehouse maintenance, including forklifts, turrets, etc.

• Manage recalibration of warehouse racking.

• Ensure warehouse lighting is kept in good condition.

• Ensure the sprinkler system is maintained as per legislation.

• Ensure that pest control is kept up to date as per legislation.

• Head of Security – ensure that facility security is enforced and monitored as required by the business.

• Monitor damages and leaks.

• Ensure that all alarm systems are always in working condition.

• Implement HSE, Quality & Risk.

• Key management.

• Cleaning – building cleanliness, ensuring the environment is properly cleaned (restrooms, common areas), with a specific emphasis on dust control and hygiene maintenance.

• Management of third parties – supervise the work of subcontractors for electrical, air-conditioning, plumbing and other essential facilities and equipment.

• Detect common problems within the organisation and develop backup or alternative systems for common problems, e.g. power shortages.

• Assist with the management of lockers.

• Ensure the safety of the building from fire, floods and other hazards.

• 5+ years' diesel mechanic experience (FAW, HINO, etc.)

• Experience with MHE (Forklifts, Turrets, etc.)
