Are you a commercially minded recruitment leader who enjoys growing a business, developing a team and remaining closely involved with clients and candidates?
Lumenii is looking for a hands-on Head of Recruitment to lead and grow our recruitment offering. This is a strategic and operational “player-coach” role for someone who can drive revenue, lead a capable team and ensure exceptional recruitment delivery.
We are a South African talent technology and consulting business. We combine psychometric assessments, competency-based methodologies and professional expertise to help organisations make better talent decisions.
Purpose of the role
The Head of Recruitment will take overall accountability for Lumenii’s recruitment business, including commercial growth, new client acquisition, team leadership and end-to-end recruitment delivery.
While the team is growing, you will personally lead high-value or strategically important assignments and remain actively involved in sales and recruitment delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial strategy and new business
- Develop and implement the commercial strategy for the recruitment business.
- Drive revenue growth and manage recruitment-related costs.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
- Personally lead sales activities for high-value or strategically important clients.
- Develop proposals and position Lumenii’s recruitment offering to prospective clients.
- Grow recruitment services within existing client accounts.
- Monitor the sales pipeline, lead conversion and commercial performance.
Team leadership and capability
- Lead and manage all recruitment resources across sales and delivery.
- Set clear performance expectations, operating rhythms and quality standards.
- Coach and develop team members using Lumenii’s competency-based methodology.
- Build the team’s recruitment, client-management and commercial capability.
- Act as the central link between the recruitment team and the wider Lumenii business.
End-to-end recruitment delivery
- Oversee every active recruitment assignment from sourcing to placement.
- Ensure that role requirements, competency profiles and sourcing strategies are properly defined.
- Monitor candidate pipelines, time-to-fill and placement quality.
- Personally manage complex, high-value or strategically important assignments.
- Maintain consistent quality standards across candidate sourcing, screening, assessment and selection.
- Manage delivery commitments, client expectations and service guarantees.
Client advisory and relationship management
- Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders and hiring managers.
- Understand clients’ workforce and staffing requirements.
- Advise clients on recruitment strategy, market conditions and talent availability.
- Promote competency-based and assessment-led recruitment practices.
- Provide practical insights that support informed hiring decisions.
Governance, compliance and reporting
- Ensure that candidate information and assessment processes comply with data-protection and professional requirements.
- Maintain ethical and consistent candidate-handling practices.
- Report on recruitment revenue, costs, sales activity and pipeline performance.
- Track delivery quality, placement outcomes and hiring-manager satisfaction.
- Act as the escalation and decision-making point for recruitment-related matters.
- Provide accurate and timely recruitment reports to the relevant directors.

Requirements
What you will bring
- A relevant tertiary qualification in human resources, industrial psychology, business or a related field.
- SABPP registration relevant to the recruitment and talent acquisition scope of the role.
- Strong experience in recruitment, talent acquisition or executive search.
- Proven experience leading end-to-end recruitment delivery.
- Demonstrated success in business development, client acquisition and account growth.
- Experience managing, coaching and developing a recruitment team.
- Strong commercial judgement, including revenue, pipeline and cost management.
- The confidence to advise senior clients on recruitment strategy and talent decisions.
- A practical, hands-on leadership style and willingness to remain involved in delivery.
- Sound knowledge of recruitment governance, candidate data protection and professional standards.
HPCSA registration as a Psychometrist or Psychologist would be advantageous but is not essential. Relevant experience and demonstrated capability will be the leading considerations.
