About the Opportunity
Our client is a leading South African manufacturer specialising in branded apparel, promotional merchandise and customised clothing solutions, supplying a diverse customer base across multiple industries.
They are looking to appoint an organised, proactive and highly driven Production Coordinator to play a pivotal role within their manufacturing operation.
Working at the centre of production planning and execution, this role is responsible for coordinating customer orders from initial handover through to final dispatch, ensuring production schedules are achieved, communication flows effectively between departments and customer expectations are consistently exceeded.

About the Role
The Production Coordinator serves as the critical link between Sales, Production, Procurement, Quality Assurance and Warehouse teams.
You will be responsible for coordinating production schedules, monitoring work-in-progress, managing production documentation and ensuring customer orders move efficiently through each stage of the manufacturing process.
Success in this position requires exceptional organisational ability, strong communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working under demanding production deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Coordinate daily production schedules across multiple manufacturing departments.
- Monitor production capacity to ensure customer deadlines can be achieved.
- Prioritise production based on delivery commitments and operational requirements.
- Allocate work orders in accordance with production planning requirements.
- Ensure production schedules remain aligned with customer expectations.
- Monitor work-in-progress and identify potential production delays before they impact delivery commitments.
Order Coordination
- Receive and process customer production orders.
- Ensure all production documentation is complete and accurate.
- Coordinate the movement of orders through each manufacturing department.
- Monitor customer orders from production through to dispatch.
- Ensure production teams receive all necessary information to complete each order accurately.
- Resolve production queries relating to specifications, materials and delivery dates.
Cross-Functional Communication
- Liaise daily with Sales, Procurement, Warehouse and Production teams.
- Provide regular updates on production progress.
- Escalate production constraints and bottlenecks where required.
- Coordinate changes to production schedules where customer priorities change.
- Maintain effective communication between all operational departments.
- Build strong working relationships across the business to improve operational efficiency.
Production Administration
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
- Update production tracking systems throughout the manufacturing process.
- Prepare production reports for management.
- Monitor production KPIs and report on performance.
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and on time.
- Assist with production reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
Operational Support
- Assist Production Management with daily operational planning.
- Support continuous improvement projects aimed at increasing productivity.
- Identify opportunities to improve production flow and efficiency.
- Assist in resolving operational issues impacting production performance.
- Ensure production activities comply with company procedures and quality standards.
Key Performance Measures

Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a Production Coordinator, Production Planning or Manufacturing Administration role.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing environment is essential.
- Excellent computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Highly Advantageous
- Experience within the apparel, textile, promotional merchandise or garment manufacturing industry.
- Exposure to ERP or production planning systems.
- Previous experience coordinating high-volume manufacturing operations.
- Knowledge of inventory and warehouse processes.
