Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Hons) in a relevant field (Essential/Minimum)
  • Management Development Programme (Essential/Minimum)
  • MBA qualification (Recommended/Desirable)
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in safety within mining or heavy industry
  • At least 5 years' experience in Facilities and Risk Management (Recommended)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage corporate safety and risk management programs
  • Strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA), Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), and relevant statutory compliance requirements
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing safety policies, programs, and compliance frameworks
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including experience interfacing with regulators and industry bodies
  • Capability to manage budgets, financial planning, and operational performance within the safety function
  • Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum)
  • Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum)

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of comprehensive safety and corporate centre security programs, policies, and standards across the organisation.
  • Oversee Facilities and Risk Management operations for the Corporate Centre, ensuring effective maintenance management and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all statutory and legal requirements, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA) and Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA).
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on safety and risk management strategies, and analyze safety incidents to implement corrective measures.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, including internal departments, regulators, industry bodies, and service providers to maintain strong collaboration and compliance.
  • Develop and manage budgets for safety and risk management functions, ensuring optimal allocation and utilization of resources.
  • Champion a zero-harm culture by promoting best practices, facilitating knowledge sharing, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and develop the Safety and Risk Management team, fostering a motivated, skilled, and accountable workforce through effective performance management and leadership.
  • Represent the organisation in external safety and risk forums, regulatory engagements, and compliance committees to ensure alignment with industry standards.
  • Ensure the establishment and maintenance of robust compliance, governance, and assurance frameworks to safeguard organisational health and safety objectives.
