Accountant: Revenue (Fixed-Term Contract)

We've got an exciting opportunity at Ackermans as a Accountant: Revenue in our Finance Revenue team. This role will manage the recording and reconciliation of the store revenue related transactions for Ackermans & Pepkor Speciality
We're a fully in-office team. This role is based at our Support Centre in Kuils River, Cape Town.
QUALIFICATIONS required
Essential
- B Comm or equivalent finance qualification (Diploma/ Degree)
Preferred
- B Comm Honours
- CA(SA) qualification
- CIMA certification
KNOWLEDGE required
- Financial reconciliation expertise
- Good understanding of Revenue process
- Good planning and building the work flow
- Strong analytical knowledge and ability
- Excellent knowledge accounting principles and their application (debits, credits, journals, reconciliations)
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS required
Essential
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in finance, including financial reconciliations
- 3 or more years’ experience managing a large team
Preferred
- Retail experience or previous experience working in a multi-national environment.

- Computer skills, Excel at an advanced level
- Excellent Interpersonal skills, ability to work with people across all levels
- Strong numerical ability

2. Stakeholder management (Internal & External):
The role entails to be the first level of stakeholder management on a continuous basis. Main focus is to manage the SLA’s on a continuous basis.
- Stakeholder: Tenacity
Manage the team’s process:
- Resolving Tenacity queries raised via the call centre
- Collecting the EFT slips for the Tenacity transaction disputes
- Tenacity Disputes/ Charge Backs
b. Stakeholder: Pepkor Internal auditors
- Manage the fulfilment of information requests from the Pepkor internal audit team
c. Stakeholder: Operations Risk & PSS Finance management team
- Analysis, interpretation & reporting of the following information to Ackermans Operations Risk Manager & Pepkor Speciality finance management team:
- Store cash losses information (weekly & monthly)
- Identify stores with risk cash loss trends during the month and year-to date & highlight the team member’s observations during interactions with the store. This is to enable operations risk investigations.
- Store Banking trends (weekly & monthly)
- Identify the stores whose cash banking period trends are outside of
- agreed SLA (SLA agreed monthly with the operations risk team based on CIT collection days)
- Cash centre performance (weekly and monthly)
- Identify all cash centres that are operating outside of the agreed-upon SLA
d) Supplier: All banks
- Manage the relationship with all cash banks & EFT banks
e) Monthly cost accrualsb) Manage the resolution of exceptions:c) Reconciliation management:
- Weekly closure & month end management
- Interfaces
- Monitor the interfaces into SAP.
- Manage the unknown EFT interfaces into SAP.
- Manage the Point of sale transactions on error in Recon Assist.
- Manage invalid bank interfaces into Recon Assist.
- Manage the cash deposit SLA
- Manage the EFT SLA
- Manage the reconciliations for closed stores
- Manage exceptions, review & approve / reject cash deposits released from the error report.
- Manage the sales clearing reconciliation & exceptions (reconciled between Recon Assist & ukusa)
- Review revenue team’s GL reconciliations before submission to the GL reconciliation team.
- Review the store accounts’ bank reconciliations for reconciling items (Incl adjustment bank accounts)
- Approve ad hoc journals for the revenue clerks
