Minimum Requirements

  • Matric Certificate
  • 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 3 years’ experience in a leadership role is advantageous

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the production team to meet daily and shiftly production targets.
  • Responsible for housekeeping for your designated area
  • Lead by example, ensuring a safe and efficient workplace is always maintained
  • Ensure the production plan is achieved on time and in full.
  • Monitor and report performance against KPIs (output, spoilage, downtime)
  • Ensure accurate completion of production reports on time.
  • Practice cost control (eg. reduction of wastes)
  • Coordinate people, materials and equipment to meet daily targets
  • Achieve the required company quality standards ensuring both internal and external satisfaction
  • Liaise and coordinate with Production Supervisor to progress issues concerning production and resources
  • Assist in driving performance of team members, giving direction and feedback to aid good performance
  • Ensure safe working practices are maintained and ‘Standard Operation Procedures’ are adhered to
  • Assist in motivating the team to create a high-performance culture where improvement suggestions are embraced
  • Report machinery breakdowns to Production Supervisor
  • Performing duties of absent staff as and when required
  • Assisting in training operators on products to be manufactured and processes within the department
  • Consistently promote high standards through personal example and ensuring that each team member understands the standards and behaviors expected from them
  • Work proactively with support functions to fully define the processes/procedures/controls relevant to team activities
  • Support autonomous maintenance activities within the production team
  • Assisting the team by providing input to the Production Supervisor to improve activities
  • Participate in audits and stock take as required
  • Drive manufacturing excellence principles across the production area
  • Promote teamwork, accountability and a continuous improvement culture
  • Manage poor performance in line with company policy
  • Take disciplinary action against staff with the assistance of Management
