Junior UI Engineer

Gulf Associates

We are looking for a Junior UI Engineer to support our technical work for a client operating a financial services firm. In this role, you will assist in building and refining internal tools that help our partners deliver commercial advice to sovereign entities and large family groups. This is a fully remote position that requires a focus on clarity and functional design. You will work closely with our senior team to ensure that the software interfaces we use to analyze counterparties and investment scenarios are practical, reliable, and grounded in the needs of our firm. The position is a full-time, paid role, and the compensation is competitive for the entry level market.

What you will do

  • Translate static visual designs into clean, functional HTML and CSS for a variety of internal applications.
  • Support the development and maintenance of dashboards used for complex investment modeling and partnership analysis.
  • Test interfaces across different devices and browsers to ensure a consistent experience for all users in the market.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to implement small features and updates to our proprietary data tools.
  • Maintain and document a library of UI components to ensure internal design consistency across our project portfolio.
  • Help troubleshoot front-end bugs and layout issues as they arise during active client engagements.
  • Research and suggest simple, effective ways to improve the usability of our data visualization tools.
  • Participate in technical reviews to understand how our UI choices impact the commercial logic of the final product.

What you bring

  • A foundational understanding of HTML5 and CSS3, with an interest in modern layout techniques.
  • Basic exposure to JavaScript and a willingness to learn how front-end frameworks interact with user interfaces.
  • An interest in commercial judgment and how technical tools support high-stakes decision making for our clients.
  • A disciplined approach to code quality and basic familiarity with version control tools.
  • Logical thinking and the ability to break down visual requirements into manageable technical steps.
  • A strong eye for visual order and an understanding of why specific layout choices matter in a professional, senior-led environment.
  • Strong written communication skills for documenting changes and collaborating effectively with a remote team.
  • Comfort working independently in a remote environment while maintaining high attention to detail and meeting deadlines.

What we offer

  • A fully remote work arrangement that offers flexibility and trust in your ability to manage your own schedule and output.
  • Direct mentorship from senior partners who value practical results and commercial reality over theoretical reports.
  • The opportunity to work on projects that involve significant capital deployment and sovereign-level partnership decisions.
  • Exposure to the way large-scale commercial deals are verified and settled at the highest levels of the territory.
  • A work culture that prioritizes your actual contributions and commercial logic rather than office presence or corporate fluff.

Working at Gulf Associates

Gulf Associates focuses on the ground reality of how investments are made and how partnerships are formed. We do not produce long, vague reports for a distant head office: instead, we provide clear positions that a leader can actually act on. This mindset extends to our engineering work. We build tools that work reliably and display information clearly, ensuring that our technical output supports the commercial judgment of our partners. We are a small, focused firm that values honesty, directness, and evidence. You will not find layers of bureaucracy or generic models here. Instead, you will find a group of professionals who are comfortable being measured on the results of their work and who expect you to take pride in the clarity and precision of the interfaces you build.

Our work often involves high-stakes environments where state capital and private deals overlap. Because of this, we value engineers who understand that their work is part of a larger commercial picture. We maintain a small book of active engagements to ensure that our senior team remains involved in every project, providing you with the chance to see how technical tools are utilized in actual negotiations and regulator conversations. We look for individuals who are commercially curious and ready to contribute to a firm that prioritizes substance over presentation.
