Construction Manager

Our client is seeking an accomplished Construction Manager for a senior leadership opportunity based in Pretoria. The ideal candidate will have more than 20 years of experience delivering large-scale civil engineering, mining infrastructure, bulk earthworks, roads, concrete structures, and industrial construction projects. This position requires a commercially astute construction professional with exceptional leadership skills and a proven ability to successfully manage high-value projects from planning through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the successful execution of major civil, mining, and infrastructure construction projects.
  • Manage project programmes, budgets, procurement, subcontractors, and commercial performance.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Drive compliance with Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, consultants, suppliers, and clients.
  • Monitor project costs, cash flow, contractual obligations, and project risks.
  • Prepare progress reports, project forecasts, claims, and management reports.
  • Oversee construction methodologies, quality assurance, and technical compliance.
  • Mentor and develop site management teams while promoting a high-performance culture.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

  • 15 - 20 years of experience within the civil construction and mining sectors.
  • Extensive experience delivering large-scale infrastructure, bulk earthworks, roads, concrete works, pipelines, drainage, and mining projects.
  • Proven track record managing projects valued up to and exceeding R1 billion.
  • Strong commercial understanding of budgeting, procurement, cost control, and contract administration.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing large construction teams and subcontractors.
  • Excellent understanding of construction planning, project scheduling, and risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of Health, Safety & Environmental legislation and implementation.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Registration with SACPCMP as Pr.CM or currently in the registration process will be advantageous.
