Project Management Associate

Gulf Associates

We are looking for a Project Management Associate to support our advisory services for a key client engagement. Our firm is currently assisting an expanding pan-African entity with high-stakes commercial decisions regarding joint ventures and capital deployment. This role is essential for keeping our research and project workflows organized as we support these senior-led negotiations. Because we operate as a fully remote team, you will have the flexibility to manage your tasks from any location while staying closely connected to our senior partners. We prioritize evidence from the ground over generic strategy models, and this role provides the foundational support that allows our team to deliver actionable commercial judgment to our clients.

What you will do

  • Track project schedules and milestones to ensure that our senior partners have the necessary materials for upcoming client negotiations.
  • Conduct focused research on counterparties, competitors, and local market trends within the relevant territory.
  • Assist in drafting internal reports that document the current state of partnership discussions and regulatory environments.
  • Organize data sets and evidence to support the firm's commercial positions on specific investment decisions.
  • Maintain clear records of project communications to ensure that all team members remain updated on the status of active engagements.
  • Help prepare briefing notes that summarize complex investment scenarios for client executives.
  • Monitor local news and market updates that could influence the logic of our current advisory projects.
  • Coordinate the flow of information between internal teams and external client representatives to keep project timelines on track.

What you bring

  • A university degree or equivalent academic foundation in business, economics, or a related field.
  • The ability to write in a clear, concise, and direct manner without using unnecessary corporate jargon.
  • Strong logic and the ability to break down a large project into manageable tasks and steps.
  • Directness in communication and a willingness to ask questions when project requirements are unclear.
  • A high level of organization and the discipline to manage your own workload in a remote environment.
  • Good research instincts, including the ability to find and verify information about specific market participants.
  • Familiarity with standard project coordination tools, spreadsheets, and document management systems.
  • A genuine curiosity about how state capital and private deals interact in complex commercial markets.

What we offer

  • A fully remote work environment that offers professional flexibility and a focus on results.
  • A competitive paid role that provides a solid entry point into the world of commercial advisory and investment support.
  • Regular interaction with experienced partners who value commercial judgment and ground reality.
  • Exposure to high-level decision-making processes for a major client in an expanding market.

Working at Gulf Associates

At Gulf Associates, we value commercial reality over theoretical reports. Our firm chooses to hold a small number of active engagements so that our senior partners can stay involved in the details of every deal. We do not produce generic strategy papers: we produce positions that our clients can use in the room during a negotiation. This means the work you do as an associate has a direct path to the final outcome. We have an honest and straightforward culture where we focus on what is actually happening in the territory rather than what a head office might want to hear. The role requires a focused professional who is comfortable working independently while contributing to a team that is measured by the results of its advice. We believe in providing clear, actionable support to our clients, and we seek team members who share that commitment to professional rigor and commercial clarity.
