Cost Accountant

Our client, a well-established company in the Electronics Manufacturing (EMS) industry, is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join their team in Pinetown.

This is a 12-month maternity contract with the potential to become a permanent opportunity for the right candidate.

  • Manage job costing processes, including confirming and closing job cards accurately and timeously.
  • Generate cost implosion reports and job cost recalculation reports.
  • Monitor and manage Work in Progress (WIP) in collaboration with the Planning and Production teams.
  • Review WIP variances and assist with resolving discrepancies.
  • Oversee inventory control, including receiving, issuing, storing, and maintaining accurate stock records.
  • Ensure FIFO stock rotation and identify slow-moving, obsolete, and excess inventory.
  • Assist with cycle counts, quarterly stock takes, and stock variance investigations.
  • Supervise daily stores operations and allocate work to the Stores team.
  • Liaise with Production, Procurement, Quality, and Finance to ensure material availability and resolve stock-related issues.
  • Prepare stock adjustment documentation and support month-end and year-end stock processes.
  • Coordinate daily logistics, dispatch activities, and warehouse operations.
  • Prepare inventory and stores reports while identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • BCom Accounting, BCom Cost & Management Accounting, National Diploma or Degree in Cost & Management Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related qualification.
  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience as a Cost Accountant within a manufacturing environment (non-negotiable).
  • Proven experience working with Stores, Warehouse, or Inventory Operations in manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Job costing
    • Work in Progress (WIP)
    • Inventory valuation
    • Stock control
    • Variance analysis
  • Experience with month-end and year-end stock processes, including cycle counts and stock takes.
  • Experience using Syspro ERP or a similar ERP system.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience will be advantageous.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, reporting, and communication skills.

Advantageous

  • Professional certifications in Inventory or Warehouse Management.
  • CIMA qualification or studies in progress.
