Accountant - Johannesburg

A well-established accounting and tax practice is seeking an Accountant to join their growing team. This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional looking to broaden their expertise while gaining valuable exposure to both South African and United Kingdom accounting, tax, and compliance within a diverse client portfolio that includes high-net-worth individuals, SMEs, and multinational businesses.

• Managing monthly accounting for trusts, holding companies, and operating entities
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns accurately and on time
• Assisting with monthly payroll processing and bi-annual SARS submissions
• Preparing Annual Financial Statements (AFS)
• Compiling income tax computations and supporting tax compliance activities
• Preparing annual resolutions as part of the AFS sign-off process
• Managing Companies House filings for UK entities
• Assisting with client onboarding processes and regulatory compliance requirements
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships while delivering high-quality service

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance
• Previous experience within an accounting or tax practice environment
• Strong knowledge of South African accounting principles and tax legislation
• Experience preparing Annual Financial Statements and tax computations
• Payroll and VAT experience will be advantageous
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
• Ability to manage multiple client portfolios and meet deadlines
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Eagerness to develop knowledge of both South African and UK accounting and compliance
