A well-established professional services firm is seeking an experienced Tax Compliance Officer to join its specialist tax team. This opportunity is ideal for a tax professional who enjoys working with high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and private investment structures while managing a portfolio of clients and providing expert tax compliance support. The role offers exposure to complex tax matters within a collaborative and professional environment.
- Managing a portfolio of private clients, including high-net-worth individuals, trusts, personal investment companies, and related entities
- Preparing and submitting income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and exempt entities
- Completing provisional tax calculations and submissions
- Preparing and submitting dividends tax returns
- Reviewing SARS assessments and resolving discrepancies
- Managing SARS correspondence, including objections, disputes, audits, and verifications
- Attending SARS appointments where required
- Assisting with tax clearances, directives, and confirmations of tax status
- Consulting directly with clients and providing professional tax guidance
- Collaborating with senior tax professionals on structuring and implementation matters
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in Tax or Accounting
- Registered Tax Practitioner (or eligible and willing to register)
- 2-4+ years of tax compliance experience within an accounting or professional services firm
- Experience managing a portfolio of private clients, including trusts and high-net-worth individuals
- Strong knowledge of South African tax legislation relating to individuals, trusts, and investment structures
- Solid understanding of trust taxation, provisional tax, dividends tax, and SARS dispute resolution processes
- Experience working with SARS eFiling and tax software (GreatSoft advantageous)
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams
- Strong communication, client relationship management, and organisational skills
- High attention to detail and the ability to work independently
