Instrument Technician
THAKADU
PURPOSE
The Instrument Technician is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of process control systems, field equipment and various industrial networks within the plant. This position will provide support to the production team by ensuring the safe & effective functioning of all instrumentation and automated processes.
The role also covers planned maintenance, breakdowns, process control analysis, implementation of new equipment, ownership of instrumentation projects and successful execution of a project. The incumbent will be expected to work overtime and standby as per operational needs. The role also covers the supervision / coaching of subordinates.
MINIMUM ROLE REQUIREMENTS
An N6 / S4 / T3 / NQF 6 Diploma in Instrumentation or a Diploma in Instrumentation and Process Control.
An Instrumentation Trade certificate is advantageous with a T3 or S4 diploma.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the instrumentation field with extensive experience on PLC’s and/or DCS and SCADA.
A minimum of 2 years exposure/experience as an Instrument Technician.
Supervision / "Captain of the team" experience will be advantageous.

Safety, Health, Environment & Quality: Ensure compliance with MHSA, EMPR and all other statutory requirements
Operations: Maintain and ensure reliability of field instrumentation, control and network system equipment
Quality: Ensure best practice maintenance of all instrumentation and automated systems
Growth: Identify opportunities to improve instrument operations and overall production efficiencies
People: Coach, guide and provide on-the-job training to the team
Stakeholder Liaising & Teamwork: Liaise with key stakeholders related to the organization and coordination of work.
