We’re Hiring: Fraud Investigator: Card

Location: Cape Town / Johannesburg

Reporting Line: Incident Lead: Card

Purpose of the Role

The Fraud Investigator: Card is responsible for the end-to-end investigation of card-related fraud incidents, including transaction analysis, case development, and resolution. The role focuses on identifying fraud patterns, supporting rapid incident response, and strengthening controls to prevent recurrence.

Key Responsibility Areas

Fraud Detection & Case Intake

Monitor alerts from card fraud systems and transaction monitoring tools.

Validate and prioritise suspected fraud cases.

Escalate high-risk incidents to the Incident Lead.

Fraud Investigation & Case Resolution

Conduct detailed investigations into card fraud (CNP, card-present, skimming, BIN attacks).

Analyse transaction flows, merchant behaviour, and customer activity.

Compile case evidence and ensure proper documentation.

Root Cause Analysis & Trend Identification

Identify fraud patterns and recurring issues.

Perform root cause analysis on fraud incidents.

Provide insights to improve detection rules and controls.

Control Support & Testing

Assist in testing fraud controls and monitoring rules.

Identify gaps in existing controls.

Support implementation of control enhancements.

Minimum Qualification

Qualifications & Experience

NQF 4 or equivalent

Minimum Job-related Experience

At least 3 years working experience.

Certifications / Accreditation / Registration / Licenses

ACFE accreditation advantageous
