Job Purpose

The Fire Sprinkler Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and tender submissions for fire sprinkler systems. The role includes reviewing drawings and specifications, performing quantity take-offs, obtaining supplier quotations, assessing risks, ensuring compliance with South African standards, and supporting profitable project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review tender documents, drawings, specifications and bills of quantities.
  • Perform quantity take-offs for pipework, sprinkler heads, valves, pumps, tanks, hangers, fittings and ancillary equipment.
  • Prepare accurate material, labour, plant and subcontractor cost estimates.
  • Obtain supplier quotations and negotiate pricing.
  • Compile complete tender submissions.
  • Attend site inspections and clarification meetings.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants and suppliers.
  • Maintain estimating records and databases.

Technical Knowledge

  • Interpret hydraulic calculations, architectural, structural and mechanical drawings.
  • Understand wet, dry, deluge, pre-action, foam-water and water mist systems.
  • Knowledge of fire pumps and water storage systems.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Attended ASIB Course
  • Minimum 5 years' fire sprinkler estimating experience.
  • Knowledge of ASIB, NFPA, SANS 10287, SANS 10400-T, OHSA and local fire authority requirements.

  • AutoCAD
  • Microsoft software: Excel, word, PDF ect
  • Microsoft Projects.
