APPRENTICESHIPS: BOILERMAKING OR WELDING – BETHAL

Main Purpose: The Apprenticeship programme is a well-known technical training system, including theoretical, practical and workplace components offered in designated trades to achieve artisan status.

Key Performance Areas

• The apprenticeship spans over a minimum period of 36 months.
• The candidates will have to complete the prescribed modules (knowledge and Practical components) and gain workplace experience during the period to qualify for a trade test.
• The candidates will have to pass the applicable trade test to qualify as an Artisan before the end of the apprenticeship period.
• At the end of the apprenticeship and successful completion of the Trade test the candidate will have a formal qualification as a Qualified Artisan in Boilermaking/Welding.
• Complete various tasks/assignments as allocated by the Mentor/Training Officer.
• Provide practical support to production/site as and when required.
• Any other job-related duties as required from time to time.

Preferred Requirements

• Grade 12 with English, Mathematics or Technical Matematics ( Not Mathematics Literacy ) and Physical Science or Technical Science with a 50% pass mark.
• Subject relevant to the trade (e.g. Engineering Graphics and Design) would be advantageous.
• Physically and medically fit.
• Clear criminal record.
• Unemployed 35 years of age or younger.
• Proof of residence (municipality account).
• No accommodation or transport will be provided and therefore successful candidates will have to be willing to relocate to Bethal or the surrounding areas if they do not already live locally.
• Candidates applying for the positions must reside within a 50 km radius from Power Stations ( Arnot, Camden, Duvha, Hendrina, Kendal, Kriel, Kusile and Majuba) in our areas of operation situated in Mpumalanga.
