The Garden Venue is a function and event destination set within beautifully landscaped gardens in the Northriding Smallholdings, close to the Northgate Dome. Spanning 3 hectares, the property offers a relaxed country atmosphere with multiple reception, conference, meeting, and ceremony spaces. Venues can accommodate events ranging from intimate gatherings of 10 guests to large functions of up to 500 guests. Indoor and outdoor spaces are designed for weddings, conferences, seminars, team-building programs, celebrations, year-end functions and showers. With distinctive areas such as the Olive Tree Hide, Koi Pond Pavilion, and Elephant Room, The Garden Venue provides a variety of unique settings for memorable events.

Role Description

The Sales Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at The Garden Venue in Johannesburg. This role is responsible for generating and converting leads, managing the full sales team and cycle for events, and building strong relationships with prospective and existing clients. Day-to-day tasks include managing the sales department, responding to inquiries, conducting site visits and venue tours, preparing proposals and quotations, and negotiating event packages and contracts. The Sales Manager collaborates closely with the operations and events teams to ensure accurate handover of bookings, smooth event execution, and a high level of guest satisfaction. Additional responsibilities include maintaining an updated sales pipeline, tracking performance against targets, contributing to marketing initiatives, and representing the venue at networking events or industry functions.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in sales, account management, or business development, ideally within hospitality, events, or conferencing.
  • Strong client relationship and communication skills, including the ability to present venue offerings clearly and confidently.
  • Proven ability to manage the full sales cycle: lead generation, follow-up, proposal development, negotiation, and closing.
  • Solid organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail when handling multiple bookings and deadlines.
  • Comfort with using CRM or booking systems, email, and standard office software to manage inquiries and track performance.
  • Availability to work on-site with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and peak event periods as required.
  • Relevant qualification in sales, marketing, hospitality, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Knowledge of the local events market in Cape Town and a genuine interest in creating exceptional guest experiences.
