Head of Operations & Maintenance | Renewable Energy

Our client is seeking an accomplished Head of Operations & Maintenance to lead the operational strategy and performance of a growing portfolio of renewable energy assets in South Africa. This executive leadership role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in utility-scale renewable energy operations, team leadership and asset performance optimisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the Operations and Maintenance strategy in alignment with business objectives.
- Lead and manage the O&M function to maximise plant availability, production and asset lifespan.
- Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement, performance monitoring and governance.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Manage departmental budgets and resource planning.
- Lead, mentor and develop multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Monitor key operational and HSE performance indicators and implement improvement initiatives.
- Oversee reporting to executive management, project boards and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, asset management, finance, legal and development teams.
- Build strong relationships with contractors, suppliers, regulators and industry stakeholders.
- Promote a culture of safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- Additional qualification in Law or Commerce will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 10 years' operations and maintenance experience within renewable energy or large-scale industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of renewable energy asset management and power generation operations.
- Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Sound knowledge of power generation regulations, governance and safety standards.
- Experience managing operational budgets and business performance.
- Excellent communication, analytical and stakeholder management skills.
