The Divisional Operations Manager in the Office of the Divisional Executive serves as the strategic and operational integrator for the division responsible for safeguarding and enhancing the performance of the IDC’s portfolio under CSG management.

The role ensures that the portfolio meets its dual mandate of:

  • Financial sustainability (asset quality, returns, collections, exits, etc.)
  • Developmental impact (job preservation/creation, industrial capacity, transformation)

The role oversees execution discipline, performance monitoring, portfolio analytics, stakeholder alignment, and governance, enabling the Divisional Executive to serve effectively as a steward of the IDC’s invested capital.

The role acts as the central nerve center of the CSG Division, translating strategy into action, coordinating across functions, and ensuring proactive management of portfolio risks and opportunities

Qualification and Experience

Minimum: postgraduate qualification in:Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering or related field

Advantageous:MBA, CA(SA), CFA or equivalent qualification

Additional certifications in restructuring, project finance, or data analytics are beneficial

Experience Required

8–10 years relevant experience

Experience in

Development finance or commercial banking

Investment banking / private equity

Roles and Responsibilities

1.Strategic and Portfolio Performance Support

  • Support Divisional Executive in defining portfolio strategy and priorities
  • Convert corporate and divisional strategies into actionable portfolio plans

Financial returns

Risk indicators (NPLs, impairments, covenant breaches, etc.)

Developmental impact metrics

  • Identify emerging risks and opportunities for value creation across the portfolio
  • Prepare strategic reviews and in-depth portfolio analyses

2.Portfolio Monitoring and Value Creation Oversight

  • Establish and maintain division-wide portfolio dashboards and reports
  • Track investment performance across sectors, geographies, and risk categories

  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of portfolio data and reporting.
  • Keep decision records and monitor the execution of resolutions
  • Support the annual budgeting, planning, and performance review processes.
  • Provide analytical assistance for key portfolio decision

5.Stakeholder and Client Engagement Assistance
