Salary: R50,000 CTC
Introduction
Our client, a leading organisation in the logistics and supply chain sector, is seeking an experienced Branch Manager to lead the operational, financial and people performance of one of its branches.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire branch operation, ensuring exceptional customer service, operational efficiency, cost control, compliance and continuous improvement while leading a high-performing team.
Branch complexity varies depending on branch size, revenue, fleet size, freight mix and employee headcount.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Develop and implement the branch operational plan aligned with company strategy.
- Manage daily branch operations to achieve service delivery targets.
- Ensure optimal utilisation of fleet, equipment and staff.
- Oversee route planning to maximise efficiency.
- Monitor operational KPIs and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Ensure successful implementation of new customer contracts.
Operations Management
- Drive operational excellence across all branch activities.
- Manage fleet utilisation and maintenance.
- Control branch operating costs and budgets.
- Ensure accurate system updates and operational reporting.
- Monitor collection and delivery performance.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards.
- Ensure Health & Safety compliance at all times.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company policies and operating procedures.
- Participate in internal and external audits.
- Manage third-party suppliers and service providers.
- Ensure contracts and service level agreements are in place.
- Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Reporting & Analysis
- Produce regular operational and financial reports.
- Analyse branch performance data and recommend improvements.
- Monitor compliance and operational trends.
- Present branch performance reports to senior management.
- Identify opportunities to reduce operational costs.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with clients.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders.
- Maintain professional relationships with suppliers and service providers.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
People Management
- Lead, motivate and develop branch employees.
- Recruit and onboard new staff.
- Manage labour budgets, overtime and leave.
- Conduct performance management through KPIs.
- Identify training needs and facilitate development.
- Implement succession planning.
- Manage employee relations in accordance with labour legislation.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
- Participate in business improvement initiatives.
- Recommend and implement process improvements.
Minimum Requirements
Small Branch
Education
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- National Certificate (NQF4) in Logistics, Supply Chain or similar advantageous
Experience
- 2–3 years' operational experience in a junior management role
- Experience managing one freight product
Medium Branch
Education
- Grade 12
- Studying towards a Logistics or Supply Chain qualification advantageous
Experience
- 2–3 years' experience managing a branch or equivalent
- Experience managing multiple freight products
Large Branch
Education
- Grade 12
- Relevant Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or similar
Experience
- 3+ years' experience managing a medium or large logistics branch
- Experience managing complex logistics operations across multiple freight products
