Job Description

• Backend development using TypeScript and Node.js.
• Design and development of scalable, high-performance APIs and services.
• PostgreSQL, SQL database design, and query optimisation.
• Redis and caching technologies.
• RESTful API development and third-party integrations.
• Microservices and distributed systems architecture.
• Message-driven systems using RabbitMQ, Redis Messaging, and AMQP.
• Docker and containerised application development.
• Git version control and collaborative development workflows.
• CI/CD pipelines and software deployment practices.
• Performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and system optimisation.
• Secure, maintainable, and testable software development.
• Cross-functional collaboration within Agile teams.
• Cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP (advantageous).
• Kubernetes and container orchestration (advantageous).
• Configuration management and automation tools such as SaltStack (advantageous).
• iGaming platform development and Remote Gaming Server (RGS) experience.
• Understanding of gaming industry regulations and compliance requirements (advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services and APIs that form the foundation of our iGaming SaaS platform.
• Lead the design and implementation of distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures to support platform growth and increasing transaction volumes.
• Drive architectural decisions and contribute to the long-term technical roadmap, ensuring solutions align with business objectives and engineering best practices.
• Enhance and evolve the functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability of existing platform components and services.
• Design, implement, and maintain integrations with third-party partners, gaming providers, payment services, and external APIs.
• Manage the development and continuous improvement of our Remote Gaming Server (RGS), ensuring compliance, security, performance, and operational excellence.
• Identify system bottlenecks, performance issues, and reliability risks, implementing proactive solutions and optimisation strategies.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and champion engineering excellence through coding standards, testing practices, and architectural governance.
• Mentor and support Intermediate and Junior Developers through technical coaching, knowledge sharing, and career development guidance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional Teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and deliver high-quality software.
• Work closely with DevOps teams to improve CI/CD pipelines, observability, infrastructure automation, and deployment processes.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement by evaluating emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry best practices.
• Ensure systems are secure, maintainable, well-documented, and aligned with regulatory and operational requirements within the iGaming industry.
• Participate in incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous reliability improvements for production systems.

Qualifications

• A relevant Degree/Diploma or studying towards one (Advantageous).
• At least 5 years of development experience in a commercial environment.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern backend development practices.
• Extensive experience designing and building RESTful APIs and service-oriented architectures.
• Strong experience with databases (especially MySQL/Postgres’s) including performance tuning and optimisation.
• Good working knowledge of caching and messaging systems such as Redis, RabbitMQ, and AMQP protocols.
• Excellent knowledge of distributed systems, microservices architecture, event-driven design, and message-oriented middleware.
• Experience designing and operating high-availability, fault-tolerant systems in production environments.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, architectural patterns, and engineering best practices.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, and deployment automation.
• Excellent troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimisation skills.
• Experience within the iGaming, FinTech, SaaS, or high-transaction platforms. (Advantageous).
• Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. (Advantageous).
• Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools such as SaltStack, Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent. (Advantageous).
• Understanding of cloud-native architectures and cloud platforms.
• Experience with observability tools, monitoring platforms, and distributed tracing solutions.
• Knowledge of security best practices for distributed systems and regulated environments.
