Market and Pricing Specialist (Liquefied Natural Gas)

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Market and Pricing Specialist (Liquefied Natural Gas) to support a major gas-to-power project. This strategic role is suited to a commercial LNG expert who can provide independent market analysis, pricing validation, and contractual risk assessment across the entire LNG value chain to support informed investment and project decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Review LNG and natural gas market fundamentals, pricing assumptions, and supply-demand forecasts.
- Assess LNG sourcing strategies, pricing structures, benchmark references, and indexation mechanisms.
- Evaluate commercial arrangements relating to LNG procurement, shipping, terminal operations, and regasification.
- Review SPA, GSA, shipping, and terminal agreements, including commercial risk allocation and contractual provisions.
- Assess pricing sensitivities, cost-stack assumptions, and alignment with financial models.
- Evaluate logistics, port infrastructure, terminal operations, and contingency planning.
- Review commercial risks relating to counterparty credit, FX exposure, taxation, customs, and regulatory compliance.
- Assess alignment between fuel pricing mechanisms and power offtake or tariff structures.
- Prepare commercial review reports, benchmarking analyses, and recommendations for project decision-making.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering, legal, finance, and project development teams.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree in Energy Economics, Finance, Commercial Law, Engineering, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
- 15+ years' experience in LNG markets, gas trading, commercial structuring, or LNG procurement.
- Extensive experience within LNG, gas-to-power, energy infrastructure, or Independent Power Producer (IPP) environments.
- Strong understanding of LNG sourcing, shipping, terminal operations, and regasification commercial arrangements.
- Proven experience reviewing LNG pricing benchmarks, commercial models, and cost-stack assumptions.
- Sound knowledge of SPA, GSA, FOB, DES, take-or-pay, force majeure, and related contractual frameworks.
- Understanding of lender requirements, project bankability, and commercial risk allocation.
- Knowledge of regulatory, tax, customs, FX, and compliance considerations affecting LNG projects.
