Role Overview
A prominent multi-brand private education group is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join their executive team in Durban. Entering an exciting rebound phase backed by international shareholders, the organisation offers high-level executive ownership, capital restructuring, and strategic expansion opportunities.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will serve as a strategic commercial counterweight and financial lead across the organisation. Supported by an established operational finance team, you will take ownership of group reporting, debt restructuring, capital allocation, and financial governance to drive long-term value creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute group-level financial, tax, and capital management strategies to support long-term growth.
- Lead debt restructuring initiatives and oversee banking covenant compliance in partnership with executive leadership.
- Direct group budgeting, forecasting, and advanced financial modelling across multiple operating divisions.
- Produce consolidated group monthly financial statements and executive reporting for international board stakeholders.
- Manage complex internal and external audit processes, risk governance, and balance sheet provisioning frameworks.
- Oversee working capital optimisation strategies and major debtor recovery initiatives.
- Scale and refine shared services operations to improve marginal contribution across all operating entities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified CA(SA) or CGMA with 10–15 years of experience.
- Background in executive financial leadership within the education, retail, or multi-site service sectors is beneficial.
- Experience managing group consolidations and financial reporting for foreign parent entities or international shareholders.
- Demonstrated experience in debt restructuring, banking negotiations, and balance sheet remediation.
- Proven track record leading internal and external audit processes and complex financial governance frameworks.
- Advanced capability in financial modelling, corporate valuations, and strategic capital budgeting.
- Experience building or scaling centralised shared services functions across multi-brand environments.
