An established distribution and manufacturing business is seeking a highly organised
Buyer / Stock Controller to take ownership of local purchasing administration, supplier coordination and stock integrity.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can keep purchase orders moving, stock records accurate and potential shortages, delays or cost increases firmly under control. The position covers the procurement of locally sourced chemicals, packaging, raw materials and ingredients, together with GRV processing, stock monitoring and stocktake governance.

Key Responsibilities Create accurate purchase orders in line with procurement schedules and forecast requirements. Confirm orders, maintain updated delivery dates and follow up continuously with suppliers. Obtain and compare quotations to support competitive pricing. Monitor supplier pricing and identify cost-saving opportunities. Escalate delays, shortages, quality concerns and price anomalies. Coordinate with the warehouse to ensure accurate and timely GRV processing. Match GRVs against purchase orders and supplier invoices. Investigate and resolve stock, invoice and receiving discrepancies. Monitor stock levels, movements, lead times and expiry risks. Identify slow-moving, excess and shortage-risk stock. Maintain accurate purchasing and stock information on the ERP system and internal trackers. Prepare for stocktakes, assist with counts and investigate variances. Track supplier performance, late deliveries and non-conformances. Maintain supplier documentation, pricing records, certificates and audit-ready files. Work closely with warehouse, planning, finance, operations and sales teams. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 / Matric. A diploma or degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or a related field is preferred. 1â3 yearsâ purchasing and/or stock-control experience within distribution, manufacturing, FMCG, chemicals or a related environment. Competent in Microsoft Excel. Experience using Pastel or a similar ERP/accounting system will be advantageous. Understanding of supplier documentation and basic quality or food-safety documentation will be beneficial.
