Meat Traders, a major abattoir operation based in Queenstown, is opening applications for our 12-month Abattoir Student Programme. This is real, tough, hands-on exposure to a fast-paced abattoir environment, not a desk job. If you're serious about building a career in meat processing, wholesale, or sales, this is where you prove it.

What you'll get: 12 months of practical exposure across abattoir operations, from the production floor through to wholesale. A genuine understanding of what it takes to run a major meat processing operation Mentorship from experienced industry professionals A launchpad into a career in abattoir operations, wholesale, or sales What we're looking for: A qualification (completed or in progress) in Agriculture, Animal Science, Meat Science, or Food Technology Grit, resilience, and a strong stomach for a demanding physical environment Genuine interest in pursuing a career in the abattoir, wholesale, or sales space A team player who can keep pace in a tough, fast-moving environment This programme isn't easy, but if you want to earn your place in the meat industry, we want to hear from you.
