SUMMARY

Excellent opportunity for a qualified Boring Mill Operator to be responsible for accurate machining, line boring, facing, drilling, and machining of large fabricated and heavy engineering components to specification.

POSITION INFO

Qualification Matric (Grade 12) Trade Tested Fitter & Turner / Toomaker Requirements Minimum 5 years' experience operating horizontal or vertical boring mills. Experience operating conventional centre lathes will be a distinct advantage. Experience machining large fabricated steel components. Experience in heavy engineering, mining, or hydraulic equipment manufacturing will be advantageous. Experience with line boring is beneficial. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Strong understanding of machining tolerances and fits. Competent in the use of precision measuring equipment including: Verniers, Micrometers, Dial indicators, Bore gauges, Height gauges. Knowledge of cutting tools and machining parameters. Ability to calculate speeds, feeds, and dimensions. Experience with conventional boring mills. Ability to independently set up and operate a conventional centre lathe, including turning, facing, drilling, boring, and threading operations (CNC machining experience will be advantageous.) Preference will be given to candidates with experience machining: Rock breaker booms. Hydraulic cylinders. Heavy mining equipment. Large welded fabrications. Pivot pin bores and bearing housings. Precision line boring and repair work. Conventional lathe machining of shafts, pins, bushes, sleeves, and other precision components.
