Philosophy
Minimum Requirements
- Recognised degree or qualification in Pharmacy.
- Must be registered with the relevant pharmacy regulatory authority in Lesotho and hold valid authorisation to practise.
- Relevant professional experience is preferred.
- Must comply with applicable pharmacy laws, regulations, and professional standards.
The Pharmacist will provide professional pharmaceutical services, support safe and effective medication use, promote medication adherence, provide patient education, and collaborate with the nursing, paramedic, and social work teams. Services should be delivered within the pharmacist’s professional scope of practice and applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities
- Review prescriptions and medication orders for appropriateness and safety.
- Dispense and supply medicines in accordance with applicable laws and professional standards.
- Provide patients with clear information on medication use, dosage, administration, storage, and possible adverse effects.
- Promote medication adherence and identify potential medication-related problems.
- Identify potential drug interactions, contraindications, allergies, and duplication of therapy.
- Support medication reconciliation where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate medication and dispensing records.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, stock control, and security of medicines.
- Monitor medicine expiry dates and inventory levels.
- Collaborate with nurses, paramedics, doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide medication-related health education to patients and caregivers.
- Participate in chronic disease management and community health education where appropriate.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold professional ethics.
- Refer patients to appropriate healthcare professionals when concerns fall outside the pharmacist’s scope of practice.
