POSITION INFO

The Production Assistant supports the Production Supervisor in executing daily manufacturing and production tasks. This role involves coordinating materials, operating machinery, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining a clean and organised workspace. The Production Assistant is a key player in achieving production efficiency, meeting quality standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment. Responsibilities: Assist in the movement and organisation of raw materials, components, and finished goods throughout the production process. ● Operate and monitor machinery and equipment as instructed, ensuring efficient and safe operations according to standard operating procedures. ● Perform quality checks on products during and after production to ensure adherence to company standards and specifications. ● Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Report any safety hazards or incidents to the Production Supervisor. ● Maintain accurate production records, including tracking of materials used, products produced, and any equipment maintenance or breakdowns. ● Assist with routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and work areas to ensure optimal functionality and cleanliness. ● Work closely with other team members to support a cohesive production process, provide assistance where needed, and foster a positive team environment. ● Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, quality, and safety. Essential Requirements: ● A minimum of National Senior Certificate NQF 4 or equivalent. ● Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment. ● Ability to operate and understand basic machinery and tools. ● Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. ● Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team. ● Good physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labour, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. ● Basic maths and literacy skills for documentation and measurement. Beneficial Requirements: ● Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment. ● Knowledge of safety practices and protocols in an industrial setting. ● Familiarity with basic computer skills for data entry and production reporting. ● Certification in forklift operation or other relevant equipment. ● Experience with quality control processes and tools.
