Food Safety Graduate

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Food Safety Graduate to join their team and develop within the dynamic agricultural export environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in food safety, regulatory compliance, sustainability initiatives, and stakeholder engagement while working alongside experienced industry professionals. The successful candidate will support food safety programs, monitor regulatory developments, assist with compliance initiatives, and contribute to ensuring adherence to local and international food safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Monitor emerging food safety trends and assist in evaluating their potential impact on industry and export market requirements.
• Assist with gathering and analyzing information relating to local and international regulatory developments affecting agricultural products.
• Support technical research projects relating to crop protection, compliance requirements, and food safety best practices.
• Coordinate and support stakeholder engagement activities, including meetings, workshops, industry discussions, and sustainability initiatives.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and supporting documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to compliance, research activities, and industry developments.
• Assist with addressing technical and regulatory queries received from industry participants and business partners.
• Support investigations and data collection relating to food safety incidents, compliance concerns, and risk management activities.
• Contribute to projects focused on quality assurance, sustainability, and continuous improvement within the agricultural value chain.
• Build positive working relationships with industry bodies, regulatory authorities, research organizations, and other key stakeholders.
• Assist in developing educational materials, industry communications, and awareness initiatives relating to food safety and compliance.
• Provide administrative and project support to the wider team as required.

Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Agricultural Science, Food Science, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Strong interest in food safety, sustainability, regulatory compliance, and agricultural exports.
• Excellent research, analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
• Strong presentation and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Willingness to travel when required.
• Master's Degree (MSc) in a relevant field is advantageous.
• Previous exposure to food safety, sustainability, compliance, or regulatory environments is advantageous.
• Working proficiency in both English and Afrikaans.
