Position Details
- Job Title: Assistant Accountant

Job Summary
The Assistant Accountant will support the Accounts Department in ensuring the effective operation of the Hospital’s finance and administrative functions in accordance with recognised accounting principles, standards, and management requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Initiate financial transactions.
- Assist the Hospital Accountant with daily transaction processing and data capture.
- Assist with monthly petty cash replenishment and reconciliation.
- Maintain and file financial transaction documents.
- Assist with payroll preparation.
- Assist with insurance schedules and other payroll deductions.
- Assist with payroll deduction payment processing.
- Support staff performance appraisals for Cashiers and Inpatient Secretaries.
- Ensure effective internal controls are maintained in accordance with accounting standards and the Hospital Accounting Manual.
- Verify that all payments are supported by the required documentation and authorised signatures.
- Ensure receipt books, patient booklets, and forms are available and replenished when required.
- Verify, sign for, and securely store daily cash collections.
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations and verify account balances.
- Ensure receipts and financial records are properly completed and filed.
- Cooperate with spot checks conducted by the Accountant or Senior Accountant.
- Provide documentation and support during internal and external audits.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma in Business Studies, Accounting, or a related field.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Dedication, patience, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of clients.
