Job Advert Summary
Feltex is seeking an experienced Production Planner to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing all production processes to ensure efficient operations and the achievement of company objectives.
This role involves developing and maintaining production schedules, managing resource utilization, monitoring production performance, and ensuring products are manufactured and delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12.
- National Diploma/Degree – Industrial Engineering, Production/Manufacturing Management or similar discipline
- Minimum 2 years’ working experience in Automotive Industry
- Minimum 2 years’ working experience in Operational Management in a motor industry manufacturing environment
Duties & Responsibilities
Process Control
- Receive customer releases
- Schedule and monitor production
- Schedule and arrange maintenance and repair for manufacturing operations
- Schedule and arrange change –overs according to the Production Plan (change-over sequence, etc.)
- Capture customer release notes onto the MRP system
- Capture previous day’s production output onto the MRP system
- Update the daily Production Plan based on the actual production and sales changes, material and manufacturing constraints
- Communicate the Production schedules to the relevant stakeholders
- MRP maintenance – reconciliation, demand and capacity alignment (stop order release planning & maintenance)
- KAPMS –Capacity steering system administrator
- Hardware maintenance and support – Label printers and scanners
- Monitor performance against internal KPI – (OEE monitoring, evaluation and communicate data analysis for decision –making)
Project Management, if required:
- Supervise a project team of a developmental, technical or small project to deliver project objectives
- Identify, suggest and implement corrective actions to improve quality of project work
- Raise request for sample and update the sample request register
- Oversee/produce initial product sample
- Commission machines and equipment or pilot and test new / existing products
- Data administration – OEE capturing (compile production reports, presentations and machines analysis
Planning
- Supplier net – Daily packing analysis and administration for planning purposes
- Planning – Job card release to cover daily requirements and assistant production planning (tool efficient planning and manning) & order processing and management
- Assistant in planning, organising and supporting production meetings and workshops
- KPI administration –implementing, reviewing and updating of all production objectives (internal, management & customer targets)
- Design, monitor and update KPI board including green area information boards
- Monitor, evaluate and communicate production schedules
- CIP – Monitor, administer and report plant CIP activities and process improvement (implement continuous improvement initiatives)
- Engineering change management – maintain and update ERPLX, KAPMS and internal documents.
Production Management
- Optimise the production process
- Maintain manufacturing and production efficiencies
- Ensure the optimal and efficient use of resources
- Balance the production lines (manning levels)
- Monitor the achievement of daily production targets
- Analyse daily variances and identify opportunities for improvements
- Investigate and resolve manufacturing related problems and sub-standard performance
Raw Material
- Monitor the level of production material to ensure sufficient material to support production
- Identify and process waste
