Our Talent Team is on the lookout for a talented

Supply Planner to join the Speciality Baking Division based in Centurion. This role would report to the Supply Planning Manager.

The Supply Planner will be responsible for managing the overall supply planning process by planning, purchasing, and managing packaging and ingredients for both short- and long-term production, using the forward forecast and balancing it against supply constraints in order to optimise customer service at minimal cost.

The role will require working closely with other supply planners, production, product development, planning coordinators, MRP planners, demand planners, stores team and the distribution team to proactively ensure that there are no interruptions in supply.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Commerce/Logistics Management/Supply Chain.
  • Diploma in Supply Chain from SAPICS or APICS advantageous.
  • Computer literacy (SAP, Syspro, Barnton and MS Office skills prerequisite).
  • 3 - 5 years operational experience, preferably within the production planning environment within the food industry, but will also consider candidates with strong operations processing experience and/or who have worked closely with the supply planning team in other roles.

Knowledge

  • Production Planning Skills with strong knowledge of supply chain.
  • Material Requirements Planning Skills for Packaging and Ingredients.
  • SAP skills and/or knowledge of supply chain planning tool (eg: Barton).
  • Strong spreadsheet skills.
  • Supply chain principles, practices and tools.
  • An appreciation of Demand Planning principles.
  • Food industry experience and basic knowledge of P&I usage.
  • Customer and product priorities.
  • Multiple key performance indicators, inter-relationships and bottom-line sensitivity.
  • BOM explosion process.
  • Supplier Production Processes (where appropriate).

Duties & Responsibilities

Functional Strategy Into Action

  • Facilitate integrated supply chain delivery through collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure delivery of agreed SIA objectives through achievement of individual and team targets.

Supply And MRP Planning

  • Apply demand planning and forecasting principles to support Packaging & Ingredients (P&I) planning.
  • Manage P&I stock levels based on storage capacity, shelf life, safety stock, supplier lead times, and working capital objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a rolling 12-month MRP plan, with weekly planning for the first 13 weeks and monthly planning thereafter.
  • Ensure sufficient packaging and ingredient availability to support production requirements.
  • Maintain accurate SAP MRP master data, including lead times, safety stock, MOQs, and order frequencies.
  • Provide suppliers with a 13-week forecast to support capacity and material planning.
  • Collaborate with sourcing and site teams to ensure on-time, in-full delivery and appropriate safety stock levels.
  • Work closely with production to manage supply risks relating to fresh and short shelf-life materials.

Stock Management of Packaging, Ingredients and Other Externally Procured Products:

  • Manage stock levels on-site and at suppliers in line with agreed targets.
  • Support supplier relationship management with the sourcing team.
  • Maintain stock accuracy and address discrepancies with stores.
  • Ensure timely write-off of obsolete or quality-compromised stock.
  • Communicate stock shortages and excesses, recommending corrective actions.
  • Oversee stores and warehouse activities through the Stores Supervisor.

Supplier And Stock Holding Management

  • Conduct regular supplier reviews to address constraints and performance issues.
  • Resolve and escalate supplier-related risks affecting production plans.
  • Ensure NCRs are raised for non-conformances and provide supporting information for supplier reviews.
  • Determine safety stock requirements for new suppliers based on lead times and order quantities.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce stock holding and improve supply reliability.
  • Support sourcing initiatives to optimise procurement costs, inventory levels, and administrative processes.

Sales And Operations Planning / ICSE

  • Develop supply plans for input into the S&OP/iCSE process.
  • Identify and communicate risks relating to shortages, excess stock, and write-offs.
  • Recommend actions to address gaps and opportunities in supply planning.
  • Prepare and contribute to Supply Chain Review discussions, challenging planning assumptions and highlighting risks.
  • Consolidate planning packs and reports for S&OP meetings.

Innovation/Discontinuation

  • Coordinate supply chain activities for innovation projects and new product launches.
  • Manage discontinued stock to minimise write-offs through alternative usage, redistribution, or supplier returns.
  • Work with Marketing and R&D to ensure material availability for launches.
  • Estimate material bleed-outs and provide timely write-off provisions where required.
  • Manage SAP master data and BOM transitions to support material changes.
  • Advise relevant teams on timing of master data and BOM switches based on stock levels.

Supply Chain Reporting

  • Maintain and distribute KPI scorecards and supply chain reports.
  • Analyse variances against targets and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare weekly planning reports, packs, and meeting minutes.
  • Represent Supply Chain in daily and weekly operational meetings.
  • Outbound Supply Chain Project Coordination
  • Participate in projects that deliver cost savings, process improvements, and system enhancements.

Administration

  • Maintain records and filing systems within the area of responsibility.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and spreadsheets as required.
  • Resolve supplier payment and creditor queries with relevant teams.

Team Coordination And Development Of Self
