As a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in the Preanalytical Department at IDEXX, you will be a key contributor at one of the largest veterinary diagnostic companies in the world. Why This Role Matters
As a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), you'd be working with samples like blood, urine, fecal samples and biopsies that we receive from vet clinics. Every sample that enters the lab is prepared by Preanalytical. Additionally to the prep work, you will perform a wide variety of different tests associated to disciplines like Serology, Hematology, Microbiology, Histology and Parasitology to work towards a diagnosis. You are a true allrounder ensuring that the lab works smoothly and our patients get what they need.
In This Role You Will
- Work in a team of 13 people focused on different laboratory disciplines like Serology, Hematology, Microbiology, Histology and Parasitology.
- Receive, prepare, and accession veterinary samples for laboratory analysis and testing and enter specimen data into a computer tracking system.
- Use automated analyzers, microscopes and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment
- Be responsible for setting up and running lab tests and reading and releasing results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Be involved in placing orders, stock take and stock control
What You Need To Succeed
- You have at least 2 years’ experience working in a laboratory. Experience setting up, running and reading lab test and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers) in at least one of the above-mentioned disciplines is needed.
- You are registered with the Vet Council as a Vet Technologist
- You are prepared to work in a fast paced environment and feel comfortable using or learning about LIMS
- You have a positive attitude and love to bring that energy into the lab every day to support your colleagues
- You are a quick learner and can change priorities quickly
- You have a great sense of team spirit and responsibility
Schedule
- This is a full time role (40 hr/wk) working Monday - Friday (with rotational change to Tuesday - Saturday). Working shift is either 7am - 4pm or 9am - 6pm.
- Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.
